  11. This is the pc version of Oratory. Compatible with
  12. Amitory on Aminet.

  14. This is probably the best Chat program available for
  15. computers connected on a LAN with other Amiga's or
  16. PC's.

  18. No server is needed, and you have a lot of the
  19. posibilities that IRC have.

  21. It's only ment for use on LAN'S, and will NOT work
  22. through the internet.

  28. What is Oratory?
  29.  
  30.    Amitory is a chat program made for use on a local
  31.    area network (usually ethernet with tcp/ip packets)
  32.    It does not need any servers because all messages
  33.    are sent by UDP to the broadcast address
  34.    It's probably the best chat program for use
  35.    internally on a LAN!

  38.    It's designed for a maximum of 254 users, and it's
  39.    required that all users that are going to chat with
  40.    each other have the same three parts of there IP
  41.    addresses. Netmask should (but not nescessarily (?))
  42.    be 255.255.255.0 (check your tcp/ip stack).

  48.    Oratory for PC have existed in some years already,
  49.    but no Amiga version have been made.
  50.    I waited a year for a Linux version to port, but
  51.    the linux port of Amitory didn't progress to fast,
  52.    and was quite buggy.

  54.    Because of this, I decided to make an Amiga
  55.    version of this program, without building it on any
  56.    code of the pc or linux versions.

  58.    I didn't have much experience with coding, but I'd
  59.    made some small tools in arexx earlier.
  60.    That is why I decided to use arexx.

  62.    At first my plan was as simple as just see what
  63.    the other sayd, without any possibility to join or
  64.    to send messages. But after some coding, I found
  65.    out how to expand it. After some days of coding,
  66.    I had a complete Oratory for the Amiga in mind,
  67.    and I called it Amitory.

  69.    I needed a GUI too, and because I do like MUI,
  70.    the choice was simple -MuiRexx to make the GUI

  74. This is the windows version. It's freeware, and
  75. I've got permission to spread it from it's author.
